The territory of Macedonia is predominantly mountainous (79%) intersected by large valleys and lakes. Mountains are part of the old Rodope group in the eastern part and young Dinaric group in the west part of the country. Photo: Dimce Damjanovski |

Lakavica region is characterized by low-land pastures that are especially suitable for grazing in winter. The pastures are situated mainly in the valleys of Konechka mountain and around Lacavica river. The “cow-calf” breeding system is typical for the region.
